Importing videos to Blender enables artists to take entirely new creative directions. Instantly import pre-rendered missiles, lasers, holograms, explosions, shockwaves, muzzle flashes and fire to break through the limitations of Blender.

You no longer need to simulate smoke, flames, debris, sparks and embers when FootageCrate assets cover all of these requirements. Simply find the video effect you need instead!

How to use the FootageCrate Importer

Installation

Install the FootageCrate Importer using the Portal application. Remember to save your preferences to keep the plugin installed!

Find your VFX Asset

Look for your perfect fire, smoke or magic video element on FootageCrate. Click on the video preview to view the pop-up window.

Import to Blender

Click on the Blender Icon that now appears in your download options. When you click this, Blender will automatically download and import your video asset!

Depending on the video chosen, this may take a few minutes depending on the filesize and your internet connection.

Override materials

The plugin will do it's best to apply the correct material, such as an emissive material for fire. However this doesn't always work.

You can override the material-type by clicking on one of these options found on the FootageCrate Import panel.
